TOGETHER for the Long Run started with a goal to give everyone an opportunity to show their various abilities. It all began because Cat Edmonds’ cousin lost both of her legs in the Haiti Earthquake in January 2010. When she first entered high school, it was difficult for her to run in high school due to IHSAA rules.
After a long process, she had the opportunity to run in high school. Cat wanted people who are in her same footsteps to have a place where they can run and feel like a champion. Cat did some research and found there was no exact event where it would allow physically impaired people to run. That only meant one thing, make one that would. TOGETHER for the Long Run is a track event in which any individual is able to participate whether they are intellectually or physically disabled. It allows volunteers and athletes to spend a night in conversation, laughter, and excitement; allowing everyone to go to bed feeling like a champion. The ultimate goal of TftLR is to impact, empower, and celebrate all of our abilities. |
